Helsinki Improvisers Orchestra is back from Christmas holidays and the first concert of 2026 will be held in Merihaka-seura´s Kylätupa on Friday 30.1. Helsinki Improvisers Orchestra is an artist collective focused on performing free and guided improvisation and other experimental music, and its aim is to explore the diversity of artistic expression through musical improvisation.
HIO performs in Helsinki once a month - usually on the last Friday of every month.
Every HIO concert is a unique occasion, where the line-ups vary. The repertoire is versatile and varied and includes not only free and directed improvisation, but also composed works from time to time.

Rahina is a forum offering experimental music, sound art and improvisation and operates at the Kylätupa in Merihaka, at Haapaniemenkatu 14, deck level, on the opposite side of the house from the restaurant Sir Oliver.
