Heu Hsu

​​Heu Hsu’s sound journey began in Japan’s historical jazz and audio cafes, culminating in a handcrafted book. After a decade in Japan, she is now based in Helsinki and weaving sonic narratives in new forms. Through kinetic sounding objects, spatial installations, and performances, she focuses on site-specific work and the relationships between sound, materiality, and cultural landscapes.

The performance at bugbath: pathmaking attunes to the forces of magnetism through self-built mechanisms with magnetic rocks and objects. The piece unfolds through layered tones and mechanical rhythms driven by invisible phenomena, and the intricate micro-sounds of physical objects – a dialogue between the material and the unseen.

Amina Hocine

Amina Hocine is a Swedish composer and sound artist based in Stockholm. She is best known for her work with a self-built modular organ, which she has performed extensively across Europe in recent years. Her music explores immersive textures, minimalist and spiritual foundations, and rich psychoacoustic effects she calls Sound Crystals, focusing on the interplay between space and sound, both acoustically and experientially. Drawing inspiration from spiritual sciences, she weaves detailed timbres which encourages deep listening in her compositions. She composes both notated music for musicians and acousmatic works, the latest being a commissioned piece for the Edition festival x INA GRM’s Acousmonium, that will be released in their Portraits series in 2026. Her debut instrumental album ātamōn was released on Subtext July 2nd 2025.

crys cole & Marja Ahti

At bugbath: pathmaking, crys cole & Marja Ahti will present a new collaborative project, bringing together two distinct approaches to sound, montage, and live action.

Canadian crys cole is a Berlin-based artist working in electroacoustic composition, performance, sculpture, and installation. With focused listening at the heart of her practice, she creates subtle, evocative works using haptic gestures and seemingly mundane materials—composing texturally nuanced pieces that shift sensory perception and continually re-tune the ear. Often site-specific, cole’s installations draw on the unique materiality, history, and sonic character of the spaces they inhabit, and the unique characteristics of the materials that she activates.

Marja Ahti is a Swedish-Finnish sound artist and electroacoustic composer. Working with field recordings, sounds of everyday objects and materials, analog synthesis, digital processing, and acoustic instrumentation, she creates precise musical narratives with organically unfolding sequences of details and textures, suggesting a poetic realm between the acousmatic and the documentaristic, between abstraction and the deeply familiar.
