Mhon. Songs in experiment and Silence.
Mhon is the Solo Project of Judith Mann, a German Musician and Sound Artist.
Mhon is characterized by Judith Mann´s delicate, fragile vocals, interwoven with field recordings, synthesizer, processed sounds and conscious silence.
In November and December Judith Mann will be in Finland for the first time. Thanks to a scholarship from Saastamoinen Foundation she will stay in Finland for 5 weeks playing a few selected concerts in carefully chosen places that fit her quiet, introspective music.
She chose to come to Finland in the darkest time of the year to collect new sounds for her music (with her old walkman) and hopefully see the nordic lights.
Mhon tells stories interwoven with silence and sounds she collected somewhere in the world ( on cassette tapes- traveling with an old walkman).
Through her selective solitude on stage with synthesiser /piano, Walkman, Voice, Mhon’s music creates a purity, reduction, which, in the encounter with field recordings, processed sounds and conscious silence, makes a reflection of the individual in the world audible.
“I met Judith Mann a few years ago at the Brooklyn Rod and Gun club and she introduced me to her ethereal, haunting music. She’s like an avantgarde Cat Power meets Bjork. I think her music is amazing … and for whatever reason incredibly visual: I just keep seeing things when I hear it. (Peter Mattei for “electric literature”).
“like aural Edward Hopper paintings, described in songs and poems” (live unsigned)
” Musician between sound art and minimalistic songwriting” (ALpress)
Mhon is the name of Judith Mann´s solo project.
Mho the reciprocal of an ohm, a former unit of electrical conductance.
